It's so complex and I could read endless books about it. The Moon garden was described absolutely stunning and I want to read more about it!Ĭari Thomas created one of my all-time favorite magic systems about witches. I loved this short novella, because it gave me a deeper inside into the kind of magic I was most interested in while reading Threadneedle, but of course, with the fantastic and superior world building and magic system, I found a new one I'm obsessed with. Since The Hedge Witch is the prequel of Threadneedle and follows one of the side characters, I would recommend you to read Threadneedle first. When Rowan finds some friends, they start digging around, trying to solve the riddle of the mysterious events. Additionally, mysterious things happen in the little Welsh town, causing trouble in the secret magic community, and everyone is worried the non-magic residents will notice the witchcraft. The summer holidays become not as fun as Rowan hoped for, getting endless lectures about the serious business of hedgecraft by her aunt. Rowan should learn more about hedgecraft and the connection to nature. She sends Rowan to her rather eccentric aunt Winnie, who lives in a cottage in the isolated Welsh countryside. Rowan dreams of spending the summer in London, attending parties, having a summer fling and climbing the social ladder a bit higher until the school starts again, but her mother has different plans for her. The Hedge Witch is the prequel novella of Threadneedle and follows Rowan the summer before school starts again and she befriends Anna.
